The National Testing Agency (NTA) conducts UGC NET exam twice every year in June and December. The official notification in this regard is yet to release.
UGC NET is conducted to determine the eligibility of students for ‘Assistant Professor’ and ‘Junior Research Fellowship and Assistant Professor’ in Indian Universities and Colleges. However, only Indian Nationals can participate in this exam.
The selection of candidates is made based on their performance in Paper-I and Paper-II of UGC NET. Please make a note that the students who are only qualified for Assistant Professorship are not considered for the award of JRF.
UGC NET exam is conducted in Computer Based Test (CBT) mode. There are 150 questions in total out of which 50 questions belong to Paper I and the rest 100 questions belong to Paper II.

UGC NET 2024 Eligibility Criteria
If you don’t meet any of the said eligibility criteria then your candidature can be cancelled at any point during the selection process.
Age Limit
- JRF Age Limit: There is an upper age limit of 30 years for JRF. However, SC/ST, OBC, Transgender, and Women applicants can claim a relaxation of 5 years in upper age.
- Assistant Professor: The National Testing Agency has not prescribed any upper age limit for Assistant Professor.
Educational Qualification
- Qualification: You must have obtained your Master’s degree from a recognized institution or university.
- Marks: You need to obtain at least 55% marks (50% marks for OBC NCL/SC/ST/Transgender/PwD) in the qualifying exam.
- Appearing Candidates: They may also apply.

UGC NET 2024 application form will release online at the official website of NTA UGC NET- https://ugcnet.nta.nic.in/. Please make a note that you are not allowed to apply offline for the exam.

Step 2 | You need to provide your email ID and phone number to complete the registration. Please don’t forget to keep a note of your application number upon registration. |
Step 3 | Fill up the application form using information- your personal info (name, parents details, DOB), educational information (your degree and marks), and mailing address (full address with PIN code). |

Application Form Correction
Correction in your application form is allowed for a certain period and you’ll hear a notice regarding the same by NTA.
You need to make the necessary correction within the given timeline. No correction is allowed once the correction window is closed.

Admit Card
Admit card is a must document you need to have while appearing in UGC NET exam. No candidate is allowed to take the exam without his/her valid admit card.
The admit card comprises information like your name, rill number, subject, exam date, exam center, instruction etc. Please read all instructions carefully.
You also need to bring your photo identity card such as your PAN card, aadhaar card, DL, passport while coming to the exam centre. The name published on your photo identity card must match the one published on your admit card.

- You need to visit the official website if NTA UGC NET.
- Click the login button and log in using your application number and date of birth.
- Download your admit card and take a printout of the same.
Answer Key
After the completion of the exam, the National Testing Agency releases the answer key with the question paper. Candidates can check the answer key after login to their account using the application number and password.
The NTA will first release the provisional answer key. Candidates can check and raise objections, if any. You need to pay Rs.1000/- per objection.
Candidates’ objections will be verified and the final answer key will be released thereafter.
UGC NET 2024 Cutoff
There will be a separate cutoff released for lectureship and JRF. The National Testing Agency will release the subject-wise and category-wise cutoff of students who are qualified for the exam.
- General category cutoff: 40% marks
- OBC-NCL, PwD, SC, ST, PWD, and transgender’s category cutoff: 35%
UGC NET 2024 Result
The National Testing Agency will release separate results for June and December sessions. The result card comprises of information such as name, marks scored and the qualifying status.

- Click the direct link to check your result and enter your application number and password to log in.
- Upon login, your result will be displayed on the screen.
