Professor Jaya Shankar Telangana State Agricultural University

Introduction

PJTSAU acronym for Professor Jaya Shankar Telangana State Agricultural University has earned it name after Professor Jaya Shankar. The professor was a renowned educationist and passionate Telangana ideologue.  The University of Agriculture is established by the Government of the Telangana. The university greatly caters to the agriculture farming community of the state that has abundant of natural resources, diverse soil and agro climatic situations that is now grown to be the ‘Seed Bowl of India’.

The University has several subsequent colleges with three comprising Faculty of Agriculture, Faculty of Agriculture Engineering and Technology and Faculty of Home Science. The university also has nine Polytechnics, sixteen Agriculture Research Stations, nine District Agricultural Advisory and Transfer of Technology Centers, six Krishi Vigyan Kendras along with one each Extension Education Institute, Agriculture Information and Communication Center, Agriculture Technology Information Center, Agriculture Information and Communication Center, Electronic Media Wings and Farmers Call Center.

Eligibility Criteria

UG Course

In order apply for the UG course candidate must have completed 17 years of age till 31^st December of the year of admission. The upper age limit of students is 22 years and 25 years in case of SC and ST candidates and 27 years of age for Physically Challenged.

Candidates have to appear in the EAMCET examination of Telangana state and on the basis of their scored admission will be allotted. Post exam personal counseling and interview will be conducted.

Seat Reservation- 40% of the seats are reserved for candidates coming from agricultural families with having no less than 3 acres of land. The land should be in the name of either of the parents or the candidate appearing for the exam.

Polytechnic

• Candidate must have passed S.C or equivalent examination
• Should have studied at least for 4 years in the schools situated in rural areas (non – municipal areas) i.e. from 1st to 10th class.
• OC & BC candidates minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) necessary is 5.0 (including Hindi)
• For SC, ST & PH class candidates least Grade Point Average (GPA) required is 4.0 (including Hindi)

Applicants for the admission to first year Polytechnic Diploma Courses in the University are required to have finished 15 years of age as on 31st August of the year of admission with an upper age limit of 22 years.

Facilities and Infrastructure

With the support of Government of the State and Indian Council for Agricultural Research for establishing a strong base the University offers strong infrastructure. It has strengthened additional classrooms, laboratories, workshops, laboratories and hostels. The campus has installed micro-irrigation facilities to enhance the agriculture teaching process. Comfortable accommodation facilities are provided to students along with quarters for staff.
