Candidates seeking admission to PG engineering courses through GATE must be aware of the eligibility criteria before applying. GATE score will also be considered by many Government and private organizations for their recruitment process.
GATE exam is conducted by IISc and seven IITs on a rotational basis. Aspirants are advised to read this article to know GATE Eligibility Criteria 2023.

The eligibility criteria for GATE for different qualifying degree are as follows.

GATE Eligibility Criteria for Foreign candidates
In case the candidate is pursing/already completed the qualifying degree from outside of India than he/she must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:
- Must have completed/ studying in final year of the 4-year degree program in Engineering or Technology or
- Must have completed/studying in final year of at least 2 years PG degree programme from a relevant subject in science.
Documents required in support of Eligibility
- If the candidate has completed the qualifying exam in the year 2023 or earlier then he/she will be required to upload one of the following documents issued by the institute or society
- Degree Certificate
- Course Completion Certificate
- Provisional Certificate
- Membership Certificate
- Professional Certificate
- In case the candidate is expected to clear the qualifying degree exam then he/she must upload the certificate from the head of institute or department in a prescribed format or a scanned copy of Section-A Mark sheet of AMIE.
