Competitive Exams for School Students in India

At the learning age supplying the curious minds with right level of exposure is all that Indian schools have been endeavoring since long by conducting different competitive exams at school level for students all over the country. There are a good number of competitive exams that are conducted at national level for children at school level. The tests are to be taken by the students of classes from II to XII varying upon the eligibility criteria for these exams. The exams are organized to recognize and acknowledge talent of exceptional students in diverse fields of education. Here below is a list of competitive exams for school students in India.   • National Talent Search Examination or NTSE is conducted for students of class X is a National level program that strives to recognize and honor the talented students. It is a two tier exam. Students who qualify the exam receive cash scholarship for the complete academic year.

  • Olympiads are an annually competitive test that is conducted for classes between IX- XII. The test acknowledges the talent of students in the fields of Physics, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Astronomy and Junior Science. The National Standard Exam is conducted in Junior Sciences for classes of class X. The Indian Association Physics Teachers conducts NSE in Chemistry, Biology, Astronomy and Physics.

  • National Level Science Talent Search Exam or NLSTSE is the exam conducted by the Unified Council to identify talented students from classes II to XII. Just not like the regular tests that aim to search for how much a child knows NSTSE gauges/measures how well the student has understood the concepts and gives detailed feedback on the same to help them improve.

  • Science Olympiad Foundation is an exam that is conducted at school level for students between classes I to XII. The foundation is involved in to execution of separate exams for subjects like Maths (International Maths Olympiad), Computer (National Cyber Olympiad), English (International English Olympiad) and Science (National Science Olympiad)

  • KishoreVigyan Protsahan Yojana or KVPY is a National level competitive exam that is conducted for school children between the classes XI- XII. The exam is conducted by the Department of Science and Technology that strives to select talented students. The students qualifying the exam become eligible for five year integrated MS program at the institute for science education and research. The scholarship program motivates students who undertake research and development in the domain of science.
  • Geo Genius is an Olympiad which is organized for Geography and is conducted at a national level for classes between II to XII. However, it does not offer entry in to the International Geography Olympiad that is conducted separately.

  • National Interactive Maths Olympiad or NIMO is a exam that is conducted at national level for students of different classes V to XII and tests their mathematical skills and mental ability. The exam is conducted by Eduheal foundation.

  • National Biotechnology Olympiad or NBO encompasses around 50 questions of 50 marks. This exam is also conducted by Eduheal Foundation for Students of Classes V to XII.
