The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) is one of the most prestigious law entrance tests in India. It is conducted annually by one of the 19 universities under National Law Universities (NLUs) on a rotational basis. The entrance exam offers an opportunity for the candidates to enroll in various UG and PG programs in the field of law. The admissions through CLAT 2023 will be given according to the merit list released during the result announcement.

Eligibility Criteria for CLAT 2023
Here are minimum eligibility criteria for appearing in CLAT 2023 exam:
Nationality: Only Indian Nationals/NRI/NRI Sponsored candidates can apply for the exam. Foreign Nationals are prohibited from applying for the CLAT exam.
For UG program
Age Limit: No Upper Age Limit
Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed class 10+2 from a recognized board/university.
Minimum Marks: A candidate must have secured 45% aggregate marks (40% marks for SC/ST) in the qualifying exam.
Appearing Candidates: Candidates appearing in class 12th are also eligible to apply for the exam.
For PG program
Age Limit: No Upper Age Limit
Qualifying Examination: A candidate must have passed L.L.B or 5-Year Integrated L.L.B (Hons.) or its equivalent from a recognized institute/university.
Minimum Marks: A candidate must have secured 55% aggregate marks (50% marks for SC/ST) in the qualifying exam.
Note: The candidate must have passed/appeared in the final semester/final year examination of the qualifying examination on the date of his/her admission.
CLAT Application Form 2023
The application form for CLAT 2023 will only be available via only mode. Candidates can fill the form by visiting the official website i.e. www.clat.ac.in. Aspirants first need to register for the exam by providing the basic registration details such as Name, Email ID and Mobile Number. After that, a provisional registration number and password will be provided to the candidate. Using these details, candidates need to login to fill the application form. Candidates will also be required to upload the scanned photograph, and signature. Specially-Abled persons will also need to upload a scanned copy of certificate to claim the status of the same. Candidates should fill the form very carefully as once they submit the form, no correction facility will be provided. Aspirants will also need to pay the application fee as per the category they belong to. The application form along with the fee should be submitted within the time specified for it. CLAT 2023 Syllabus
CLAT 2023 Syllabus for UG courses will be composed of topics such as General Knowledge, English, Mathematics, Legal Aptitude & Reasoning (Logical) .Candidates seeking admission in the UG program can go through the syllabus given below-
English (Including Comprehension): This section is designed to test a candidate’s proficiency and command over English Language. In the comprehension section, candidates will be assessed on their understanding of the passage and its central theme, meanings of words used therein, etc. The grammar section will include correction of incorrect grammatical sentences, filling of blanks in sentences with appropriate words, etc.
General Knowledge & Current Affairs: This section will test the general knowledge of a candidate and his/her understanding of the situation around him/her. The current affair section will cover the important events taking place locally or globally.
Mathematics: This section will contain basic numerical ability of a candidate. The questions will be asked on the basis of level of class 10th.
Legal Aptitude: This section will test the candidate’s interest towards the study of law, research aptitude and problem solving ability. Questions may include legal propositions (described in the paper), and a set of facts to which the said proposition has to be applied. Some propositions may not be “true” in the real sense, candidates will have to assume the “truth” of these propositions and answer the questions accordingly.
Logical Reasoning: This test will assess the candidate’s ability to identify patterns, logical links and rectify illogical arguments. It comprises of questions such as syllogisms, logical sequences, analogies, etc. However, visual reasoning will not be tested.
The CLAT syllabus for PG courses will entail topics like Jurisprudence, Constitutional Law, and other law subjects such as Contract, Torts, Criminal Law, International Law, Environment Law and Human Rights.
How to Prepare for the CLAT 2023 Exam?
Candidates should follow the below-mentioned tips before starting their preparation-
- Always prepare a time-table that you can follow easily. Avoid making a time table with unrealistic goals. Stick to routine mentioned in the time table religiously.
- Don’t waste unnecessary time on Mobile Phones or any electronic gadget.
- Avoid making lengthy notes. Try to make short notes for quicker revision.
- Revise a topic at least three times to grasp the concepts deeply.
- Maintain a healthy diet. Indulge in outdoor activities to freshen up the mind.
- Brush up the basic concepts first and then progress towards the complex topics/concepts.
- Solve last year papers to get an idea of the examination. This will also help in increasing the performance.

CLAT 2023 Admit Card
The Admit Card/Hall ticket can be downloaded by the candidate by logging into his/her LOGIN account from 1st week of May 2023. Candidates need to take a print-out of the Admit Card/Hall Ticket and will need to carry the same to the Examination Hall. Candidates should also bear in mind that no physical admit card will be sent to them by the authority via any means whatsoever. The admit card must not be tampered with and must be brought to the exam hall in good condition. For exact date of admit card releasing, candidates are suggested to check the official website on a regular basis.
CLAT Result 2023
The result for CLAT exam might release in October 2023. Applicants can check their CLAT 2023 result through the official website only. The result will be displayed in form of a merit list based on the scores obtained by the candidates in the examination. Only those candidates will be called for the centralized counselling process whose name appears on the merit list. The admission to various UG/PG programs will be done via the counselling.
CLAT Admission Procedure 2023
The admission to various UG and PG programmes in participating universities under CLAT 2023 entrance exam will be completed through centralized online counselling conducted by the CLAT Office. The Seats will be allotted on the basis of ‘merit-cum-preference’, i.e., the CLAT Rank, the order of preference given by the candidate, the category selected by the candidate in the application form and the number of seats available in each of the participating universities. The online counselling will begin after the results are announced. Candidates are advised to visit the official website for regular updates on the CLAT 2023 entrance examination.
