Punjab MBBS/BDS Admission 2021: Punjab is the most prosperous state of the nation which has various private and public medical institutes to offer admission into the MBBS and BDS programmes. Candidates, who have completed their higher secondary education, will be required to take part in the NEET exam. The admission into the medical institutes to pursue the MBBS and BDS courses will be on the basis of the score attained by the candidates in the NEET. In all the medical institutes of Punjab state, 820 seats are available for MBBS course and 1090 seats are available for BDS courses.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The aspirant must be an Indian citizen.
  • The aspirant who is an Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) can also apply for admission to pursue the MBBS and BDS degree.
  • It is essential for the students that they have passed the higher secondary school examination from a recognized board.
  • The minimum marks obtained by the candidates in the 12th standard exam must not be less than 50%.
  • SC and ST candidates, who are under the reserved category, will be eligible to apply with the 45% marks.
  • The marks attained by the candidates of the SC-PH/ST-PH/OBC-PH/GEN-PH category needs to be 40% to be eligible for the admission.
  • It is also necessary that candidates have studied the subjects such as Physics, Chemistry and Biology (PCB) in the 12th standard exam.
  • Appearing candidates can also apply for admission through NEET.

Admission/Selection Process

  • Applicants will be provided admission in the MBBS/BDS courses on the basis of NEET score.
  • Merit list will be made on the basis of the NEET score.
  • Candidates will be invited to take part in the counselling for admission to the MBBS and BDS courses.
  • 85% of the seats will be reserved for the candidates of Punjab state.
  • 15% of the seats will be available for the candidates belonging to the other state.
  • Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) & Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct the counselling.

Entrance Exam details (NEET Details)

  • Candidates will be offered the admission through the NEET exam only.
  • The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) will conduct the NEET.
  • The NEET is conducted at the various exam centres on the national level.
  • The entrance test is generally commenced in the month of May.
  • The result of the exam (NEET) will be released in the month of June, possibly in the last week.
  • Next, candidates will be required to participate in the admission counselling to get the allotment of seats in the medical colleges.
