Banaras Hindu University is the central university that is formerly known as Benaras Hindu University and is located in Varanasi. The university is the largest residential University in Asia and has more than 20,000 students.
The University is a Public University that was brought in to existence in the year 1916 by Madan Mohan Malviya. It is affiliated to NAAC, UGC and AIU. Presently, BHU is organized in to four institutes and fourteen faculties with more than 140 departments. Some of the prominent colleges at BHU comprise- IIT BHU, Linguistics, Journalism, Performing Arts, Law, Agriculture, IMS- BHU (Medicine) and Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development.

Eligibility Criteria
- Banaras Hindu University every year conducts an entrance exam BHU UET for various Undergraduate courses.
- Candidates applying for the exam have to be 17 years of age and should have completed 10+2.
- For master’s course, BHU conducts BHU PET- Banaras Hindu University Post Graduate Entrance Test. The course is conducted to grant admission to candidate to various post graduate courses.
- In order to appear in the exam student must have completed 10+2+3 with minimum of 50% marks. Though the minimal score criteria varies as per the course selected.
